The X-Rap from Rapala is the next generation of crank baits
from the legendary maker of your father's (and grandfather's)
classic lures. However, unlike the balsa wood classics your
Grandpop used to plug, the X-Rap uses new technologies to
build a lure optimized for truer balance and color attraction
while adding enhanced casting ability.
First Impressions
For our review we used 5 colors in 2 different
sizes. We used a 4" Ghost Minnow, 4" Rainbow
Trout, 5" Glow, and 5" Baby Bass.
Fishing the Lure
Every lure had a fish on, but we only
landed on 3 of the 5. Upon rigging the lure,
the first thing we noticed was the greatly improved casting
ability. The Rap pops off the cast and has a
very true flight for a light lure. If you've ever put
down a Rapala because the cast was too light,
you may want to reconsider the X-Rap. To us, casting
ability was something noteworthy of right away.
Review Summary
All in all, we’re
tough on our lures and a 62 rating is very respectable — definitely
worth keeping in the tackle box. The X-Rap impresses
on quality of construction, available colors and
durability. |
