I live by this box - it should be your 3rd
purchase behind a rod and reel — it may just be the
best thing Plano has ever invented. OK...that wasn't too
biased, was it? But seriously, I own several tackle storage
systems, and since most of my fishing is shore-based and
can require some trekking - the 4600 gives me the opportunity
to pick and choose from my larger tackle box and load it
with exactly what I need for the water I'm fishing.
I literally use the Plano Stowaway as my "travel pack". The extremely
compact, two tier system allows for easy transport of a variety of lures. Being two tiered with independently locking
trays allows for easy access to my crankbaits and plastics on the top level; with the bottom level reserved for jigs,
tackle, weights, hand towel, flashlight, knife and fishing license.
Purchase or go fish?
Purchase. Plano offers a 4700
model which is similar in design, but larger. Honestly, I
find the 4600 just large enough and light enough to be perfect
for shore fishing travel pack while providing enough storage
for a variety of fishing lures, back-up tackle and other
incidentals. I keep the bottom tier for back-up tack and
incidentals while the top tier is reserved for crankbaits
and plastics which are varied according to the water being
fished. Highly Recommended!
UPDATE: I ended up buying the 4700 Series box
also...it's just as awesome, maybe better!
