Booyah™ Blade Spinnerbait
Target Species: Largemouth Bass
Also
Good For: Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye
For our review we chose a 1/4 oz. Booyah Blade in the Golden Shad / Gold Minnow color combination. Although spinnerbaits can be rigged with plastics or even live baits, we chose to leave the lure "as-is" for our testing.
First Impressions
We've fished spinnerbaits before and a few things are immediately noticeable. The Blade does cost about $1 more than many other similar spinnerbaits, however there is a noticeable quality difference as this lure uses high-quality spinner blades (one Colorado and one Willowleaf) attached with a precision swivel bearing. We noted the higher quality and smart color to be promising.
Fishing the Lure
Spinnerbaits are an excellent option for mid-summer fishing around shorelines and weedbeds. The Booyah™ Blade is no exception. I personally found the Blade to be exceptionally "weed-resistant" for a spinnerbait.
This lure is obviously well balanced as it quickly falls into the desired retrieve position after cast. The blades spin freely, even at slow speeds, and will cruise through grasses, lilly pads and more.
I fished the lure in heavy cover and shoreline areas with weeds and dropoffs. The lure is extremely effective in shallows and weeds, however we received mixed results in water over 6' deep. A semi-fast retrieve keeping the lure within 6" to 8" of the surface was deadly between lilly pads and over sunken tree stumps and brush.
Review Summary
Overall, we found the Booyah™ Blade to be very effective and although about $1 more than many other generic spinnerbaits on the market, the added price is well worth it. The Blade is a high-quality spinner that will hold up and most importantly continue to catch fish for many visits to come. The "Gold Shad Minnow" color (pictured at top) is my personal favorite.
