High water from the Spring snow melt signals the start of Trout season on the upper Huron River. A promising season at Kent Lake awaits as we scout the early-season shoreline for changes during the previous winter.
A beautiful Michigan summer afternoon dodging downpours at Kent Lake. Only a fool would stay out in this weather...a fool <a href='2009-fish-pictures.htm'>catching fish</a>. An old friend visits along the shore of Island Road at Kent Lake. Trying to quietly sneak around to a choice fishing spot, this is the same Blue Heron <a href='2008-lake-pictures.htm'>we took a picture of last August</a> in virtually the same spot. This is a BIG snapping turtle taken from my good camera. This nesting snapper was easily 50 yards away and probably 3ft long. A smaller one about the size of a dinner plate can be seen over his shoulder to the left. Even further back, the nesting Swan's expression says it all...stay aware! King of his domain, this frog seems quite content. Lucky for him, the water here is less than 4 inches deep. Best to not venture deeper.
